The presentation will discuss the best practices for managing engineering data and enable you to focus on key areas that are proven to improve business performance. This presentation will be of interest to anyone who uses or manages engineering data!

Introducing Solid Edge ST5

Dan Staples, director of Solid Edge Product Development, will introduce Solid Edge ST5, and provide a deep dive explanation and demonstration of new functionality and advances in synchronous technology.  Be among the first users to see Solid Edge ST5 in action, and get ready for numerous hands-on opportunities throughout the event.

102-Designing Environmentally Friendly Products
Prashant B. Jagtap, President & CEO, Trayak

This session will introduce the concepts of Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) and demonstrate how parts and assemblies can be easily analyzed for different environmental indicators like carbon footprint, total energy, etc. from right within Solid Edge. New or experienced designers will learn how to use EcoDesigner to first understand and then improve the environmental footprint of their products. EcoDesigner makes it easy and simple to design environmentally friendly products without spending a lot of time understanding the intricacies and complexities of environmental science.  The presentation will also include live demonstrations of EcoDesigner.

103-Efficient and Accurate Conversions of 2D PDF to 3D Models
Jason Wooden, Mechanical Designer, Space Dynamics Lab

2D PDF drawings of commercially available parts are prolific, not so with 3D models.  Oftentimes designers have to create a 3D model using a PDF drawing. This session will demonstrate live how to efficiently accomplish this using a free tool that converts unusable PDF graphics to usable geometry. Participants can then see how the Create 3D command in Solid Edge transforms the 2D sketches into 3D models.  This is a time-saver and produces more accurate parts than manual modeling.  This session will be useful for any level of designer.

106-Implementation Tips to Boost Your Productivity
Cory Goulden, Application Engineer, P3K Solutions

Imagine if you will, a world of Solid Edge. A world where opening the box and getting started is just the beginning. So you are up and running but are you efficient?  There are many opportunities in Solid Edge to be even MORE productive.  There are tools such as the “SE Admin”, Toolbar customizations (and how to propagate them to other users as a company base/profile), customizing the radial menu, and using templates and Quicksheets.  This session will include live demos of how to set these options up, what their usefulness is, and where to find help. This is intended for intermediate to advanced users although it would serve purpose to anybody who would like more from SE.  Intended mostly for those who would like to set up Solid Edge to be more consistent and easier to deploy.  Most benefits should provide almost immediate effects if your company has not already deployed these options.
